/> This kodak camera is very user friendly. It is simple to use and easy to set up with your computer. With two babies, I always keep a camera handy to capture those “moments.” When my camera got smashed in the diaper bag, I had to quickly replace it, and was pleased to find this Kodak Easy Share camera. Good price. And quick shipping.
An added bonus is its red color – not easily confused with other people’s cameras.

D. McClain “pretzel girl” (Phila. PA)
I’ve had this camera for 6 months. I carry it in a pocket of my purse so I can take quality pictures anytime. This past week we took it on vacation and my daughter fell into a stream while it was in her pocket so the camera was completely submerged (along with my daughter). It was dead and the SD card was empty. I pulled out the SD card and the battery and let it dry out. A few hours later, everything was as good as new! I was very impressed, I never expected a camera to survive a swim!

Olympus PEN E-PL2 12.3 MP CMOS Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 14-42mm Lens (Black)

Digital Photography Latest

12.3

1442mm

Black

Camera

CMOS

Digital

EPL2

Four

Interchangeable

Lens

Micro

Olympus

Thirds

With

I am quite surprised at how good the images are that I’m getting, especially jpegs. I’m used to shooting raw because I get better files and can squeeze a bit more juicy goodness out of my photos that in-camera jpeg processing does. Surprisingly, this camera does a great job with jpegs in good light situations. That’s the important idea to keep in mind, good light. Kirk Tuck gives this camera a fine review, but realize that he’s a lighting pro, who has written several (good) books on the subject.

IMO this camera is targeted toward two markets. For those moving up from a point and shoot, it’s wonderful. It’s familiar and less intimidating than an SLR. It can create better images than even the best point and shoots. The price is reasonable. It’s attractive and it’s a lot lighter than an SLR. Those people wouldn’t consider shooting in bad light without a flash. They wouldn’t consider deliberate long exposures to smooth motion effects. Those last two areas are not the camera’s… Read more

From: Olympus

Price: When it comes to capturing good action shots – whether a teen’s latest skateboard maneuver or Fido’s latest antic – one of the most important digital photography basics to consider is shutter lag.

Also called “processor lag” this is the time that happens between the time you press the shutter release button to the moment the camera actually takes the shot and you see the green light. Press too soon, and you end up with something completely different than you’d expected.

In spite of all their advantages, compact digital cameras are slower than film cameras, some more than others. This article gives you some tips for how to deal with this lag as well as some important tips for taking even better action photos.

Be Ready to Shoot

While you can’t know if your child is going to make that soccer goal, try to anticipate when then things are most apt to happen. Even sports photography pros with super fast cameras try to guess the next movement just so they can be in the right spot at the right time.

To better anticipate the likelihood of that great shot, gain a basic understanding of what/whom you are photographing. In other words, if you plan to take pictures of your child’s soccer game, be prepared and learn the rules of the game. If your child’s performing in the Nutcracker, watch a rehearsal or two.

Shop Around Before Purchasing a New Compact Digital.

Unfortunately, there isn’t just one camera spec that will tell you how fast the camera will capture the picture from the time you press that button. Other factors can slow down the processing too, like the quality of the sensor and in dim lighting, the ISO setting. So find out what other people are saying at photography forums or reputable review sites and read all of the available specs.

Spring for a DSLR (Digital Single-Lens-Reflex)

They’re more expensive than compacts, but they’re FAST. These cameras do not have shutter-lag issues, and if you’re shooting action indoors, you can ramp up the ISO without your photos being marred by the digital noise that you’ll get when doing the same with a compact.

digital photography Basics to Use with any Type of Camera

Whether you have a compact, DSLR, point-and-shoot film camera or camera phone, try these professional tricks.

1) Zoom in on Faces

Don’t always focus on the action. Capture the expressions of victory, determination and even defeat!).

2) Tell a Story

Look for shots that tell a story of the event. For example, begin with a shot of the team’s huddle or your fellow paddlers launching their rafts.

3) Freeze

To freeze the action, set your camera to sports mode or set your Shutter Speed Priority to a high setting. For an example of the difference in settings: freezing action in a soccer game requires a shutter speed in the range of 1/250 to 1/500, while freezing the tiny movements of a pet that appears to be sitting still, requires 1/125.

4) Blur the Background

Take a cue from the sports photographers, and blur the background by decreasing the camera’s depth of field. If you are using a camera with Aperture Priority you can do this just by decreasing the F Stop number. The lower the f-stop, the more background blur. Want to capture the crowd cheering?

5) Pan

This is a good alternative for digital compact users where dim light underexposes photos shot with sports mode/fast shutter speed. Panning works with automatic focus, but it only works when the action is moving in a fairly straight line. Here’s how to pan:

6) Set the Camera to Auto Focus

With feet planted firmly on the ground, move the upper half of your body while following the subject with your camera. Just before the anticipated action that you want to capture occurs, start pressing the shutter release button and continue following the subject until you’ve pressed the button all the way down and the camera gets the shot. Auto focus too slow on your camera? Focus on an area of contrast, like a number on a uniform. Auto focus works faster with contrast.

Experiment with panning to get various effects. You might want to show some blur in the action to emphasize the speed of movement, such as with a race car.

Whether you’re taking a photo of your dog or a sporting event, action shots are really a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Once you master the basics of digital photography (like compensating for shutter lag) it makes photography even more fun.

——

Autumn Lockwood is a writer for YourPictureFrames.com and loves taking photos. Your Picture Frames offers a <a

One of the key benefits of choosing a compact system camera is that you will usually be able to change the lens in a manner which is not typically possible with more basic alternatives. In addition it will not be as bulky as a full digital SLR and as such will be much more portable. Let us take a look at the other benefits you can expect to see if you choose a compact system camera.

Cameras such as the Sony Alpha NEX-5 are amongst the front runners in the current compact system camera market. You can gain enhanced control over your images using features such as constant live view, which gives you a real time idea about what tweaking the settings will do to the pictures which you take. For example, altering the shutter speed to result in blurring or unfocused images can be hit and miss without this function, so it will increase your ability to shoot precisely the kind of snaps you want without the trial and error.

To gain the compact size while retaining digital SLR levels of performance the typical camera from this category will have had the mirror box extracted while retaining the sensor of a full sized SLR. This means you lose nothing in terms of detail but gain a might lighter, thinner body for the camera.

Electronic Viewfinders (EVFs) are usually a feature of compact system cameras. These give you a 1:1 view of what you are shooting so that you can get a direct look at how pictures will turn out with no guesswork involved using the LCD displays on the rear. Expect to also see high definition video capture as a key component of any compact system camera. Some standard compact cameras offer this, but the extra image processing power and storage space of these more advanced models will make it a more seamless experience.

Giving users the chance to switch out lenses to suit their requirements is another asset of compact system cameras. With standard point and shoot digital devices you are stuck with the lens chosen by the manufacturer and while this is fine if you are using it casually, anyone who wants to progress and give the professional touch to their pictures will want the flexibility of a compact system camera. Given the wide availability of these models from big brands like Olympus, Sony and Panasonic there is every reason to go for a compact system camera when you upgrade, just like it makes sense to go for the versatile <a

Their images are so crisp, so sharp! If they can do it you must be able to do it to, right? So how can you do it?
A couple of years ago when I just started out with photography I was wondering how to do this. Everybody can take a more or less sharp picture, but to take a extremely sharp photograph takes some knowledge. This extreme level is known as ‘tack’ sharp. If you take a tack sharp photo then you’ve taken an image with the absolute best sharpness. How do you do this?
A couple factors determine if your photographs are going to be ‘tack’ or not:

digital photography tip #1: the use of tripods

Some people don’t really like tripods. They can be quite cumbersome. Tripods can be annoying because they are heavy and if you are taking pictures outside they can hold you back quite a bit.
What they can do, however, is get you to that ‘tack’ level sharpness. With this level of sharpness there can be absolutely no movement or it will result in a fuzzy image

digital photography tip #2: The use of timers

Use a timer as much as possible. This will further eliminate any movement that might be caused when you take a picture. Although this will greatly improve the quality of your images, it will slow you down even more.

digital photography tip #3: Lenses

If you have a good lens then your image will be sharper in most cases. The downside is that good lenses cost a lot of money and if you don’t have a lot of cash to spend this point won’t help you as much. The Digital single-lens reflex cameras of today usually come with a standard lens (probably an 18mm to 55mm). While these are great to start with they aren’t the best when it comes to quality, as it has a lot of moving parts in it and good zoom lenses cost a lot. Don’t let this discourage you though. If your names isn’t Rockefeller and you don’t swim in pools of cash there are other ways to get that absolute clarity.

Digital photography tip #4: Aperture

Two stops down from wide open is when your lens is at it’s sharpest. Take the 18mm – 55mm lens for example. When you put the aperture at about f/8 then your photograph is going to be sharper then with an aperture of f/3,5.

Digital photography tip # 5: Shutter speed

Shorter shutter speeds reduce the chance of getting any motion blur. If there’s one thing that messes up tack sharp images, it’s motion blur. So what are good speeds? Flowers don’t move a lot, so a shutter speed of 1/250 might be able to do the trick. A car or an athlete on the other hand is going to need a shutter speed of 1/2000 or more. The rule of thumb is: The faster your subject is moving the faster your shutter speed needs to be.

Now you have the knowledge to create super sharp images. The next thing you need to do is going out and try these techniques. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is to reduce motion blur.
If you tell us what camera and model we will be able to give you some more specific points that will help you with the specific camera.

In general, lighting will be the most important. You can use construction lamps to supply good light strong lighting for your scene until you an later afford proper video lighting.

It may be that even though the sensor in your camera is 9MP, the video feature uses only a portion of the sensor to give you a video resolution of something close to 1280 x 720 at 30 fps (about 1MP). In your research, you will find that some of the better video recorders use three sensors that are 3.1MP each (Red, Green and Blue) so can produce much higher resolution videos.

Powered by Yahoo! href="http://yourdigitalphotographynews.com/8am">digital cameras, footage were taken upon film, and folk were required to entrust their rather cherished memories to those tiny little kiosks in food store parking lots.

In fact , film had to be developed — and more often than not, people failed to understand how to accomplish that in their house.

At the present, just hobbyists and pros who are obstinately critical of change use old-style film cameras. Photogtaphy has gone digital — and photograph huts have been demolished or modified to fast food stands.

digital cameras — sometimes called digicams — capture photographs on internal storage devices or removable memory cards compared to rolls of old-style film. Though efforts at producing filmless cameras date at least to the Sixties, the infamous camera creator Eastman Kodak gets credit for creating the 1st digital camera. His engineer Steven Sasson manufactured it in 1975. The monstrosity weighed an amazing 8 pounds and only ca ught black and white images. And forget memory cards — the picture was stored on a cassette tape at a resolution of only ten thousand pixels. In the current’s terms, that is’s about 0.01 megapixels.

Sasson’s camera wasn’t mass-produced, it laid the technological groundwork for a sector that would finally replace the film camera and take a significant chunk from Kodak’s place as the number one provider in photograph clobber. Whilst Kodak has stayed a big player, its days as the obvious and unchallenged leader in the field are well past.

Fuji is believed to have released the 1st really digital camera in Japan in 1988, however sources conflict about if this camera actually made it into the hands of c onsumers. In 1990 , however, the Dycam Model one became the 1st widely-available digital camera. Kodak followed shortly after with its entry-level model priced at upwards of thirteen thousand dollars and providing 1.3 million pixels of resolution. Digicam prices remained out of reach of most c lients well into the 21st century.

Right now, electronic cameras are available for a little less than a hundred dollars — and professional models cost just a few hundreds, in a lot of cases.

Along with superior storage methods, electronic cameras also have other benefits over their film based forefathers. Screens allow the user to observe what they have captured straight away and possibly retake if necessary. And nowadays even low-priced digital cameras can take video, too.

Digital technology has become so minute that cameras are now not separate gadgets for a good number of users. Smart telephones, iPhones and PDAs frequently have digital cameras good enough for common uses built straight in.

Some pharmacy stores even sell disposable digital cameras intended to take just a couple of dozen pictures and then was turned in to produce prints. This places digital cameras into the throwaway age, a mark their film camera predecessors had reached before digital led on to their demise.

For further useful info please enjoy to the <a
