I am quite surprised at how good the images are that I’m getting, especially jpegs. I’m used to shooting raw because I get better files and can squeeze a bit more juicy goodness out of my photos that in-camera jpeg processing does. Surprisingly, this camera does a great job with jpegs in good light situations. That’s the important idea to keep in mind, good light. Kirk Tuck gives this camera a fine review, but realize that he’s a lighting pro, who has written several (good) books on the subject.
IMO this camera is targeted toward two markets. For those moving up from a point and shoot, it’s wonderful. It’s familiar and less intimidating than an SLR. It can create better images than even the best point and shoots. The price is reasonable. It’s attractive and it’s a lot lighter than an SLR. Those people wouldn’t consider shooting in bad light without a flash. They wouldn’t consider deliberate long exposures to smooth motion effects. Those last two areas are not the camera’s… Read more

Nikon D5000 12.3 MP DX Digital SLR Camera with 1855mm

I am purely an amature photographer, however I do have an eye fixed for a good photo, thus I needed a simple to use camera that might ‘do it all.’ If truth be known, I bought this camera to require photos of my new GSP puppy because the purpose and shoot Nikon simply did not cut it with respect to the action shots, and neither did the expensive HD camcorder, thus i used to be obtaining annoyed missing those excellent shots.
Right out of the box the D5000 could not are easier to use, at intervals minutes i used to be shooting away and obtaining awesome shots of the puppy. He’s quick, that the shutter speed was vital and it performed flawlessly in all lightweight levels. i do not understand who complained concerning the video operate, however i believed it absolutely was exceptional for enjoying on my laptop or uploading to YouTube or Facebook. It did not look too dangerous on my 46′ flatscreen either. The coloring of my puppy tends to pixilate most digital cameras however this did not happen with the D5000, his ticking came out crisp and clear in either still or video mode. I simply came back from a cruise to the Bahamas and took some unbelievable sunsets and beach shots with the help of a polarizing filter. The VBR was invaluable for steading the shots especialy when taking photos of the evening stars, and you’d never understand they were taken from a ship throughout twilight.
I have tiny hands and also the weight and grip of the D5000 was excellent. the sole draw back was I bought the kit with 2 lenses and a Nikon bag, sadly the bag was too tiny for each lenses to suit comfortably together with the filters and books. I ended up getting a Lowepro backback from Amazon that was terribly secure because it opened on the within. Battery life was additionally superb shooting over 1200 frames (including some with flash), however I did not use the live read feature aside from the video. I found the readfinder to be giant enough that I did not want the live view for stills.
Overall i am keen on this camera. i used to be nervous concerning spending most cash on a DSLR, however i could not be happier with it’s performance. undoubtedly get te filters though, they create the tip product all that a lot of ‘professional’ trying.
